About the PhD Dissertation Awards

The 2026 Supply Chain Research Summit program committee is pleased to announce a call for papers for the best PhD dissertation proposal.

CARISCA will award a winner and two runner-ups at the 2026 summit in Accra, Ghana, “Transforming Supply Chains in Africa in the Age of AI,” July 6-8. The dissertation committee will also provide feedback on submissions upon request.

The PhD Dissertation Competition session at CARISCA’s Supply Chain Research Summit is intended to showcase the best logistics and supply chain management PhD research projects being carried out in African higher education institutions.

Eligibility:

  • We invite submissions from doctoral researchers whose primary affiliation is with a university or higher education institution in Africa and whose research is in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Applicants must have at least defended their doctoral proposals by the time of the conference. Entries are also invited from candidates close to the final submission or defense of their thesis.
  • Proposals are welcome from all African countries, including Francophone and Anglophone countries, but the proposals should be submitted in English.

The 2026 CARISCA Supply Chain Summit will bring together researchers, experts, practitioners, and policymakers in Africa and beyond to discuss the place of AI in Africa's supply chains. We welcome researchers to share theoretically and empirically grounded insights from African supply chains. Experts, practitioners, and policymakers are also welcome to offer experiences and perspectives to inform future research on AI-enabled supply chains in Africa.
